How often does the system test itself?
The main power features of the alarm system, (AC Power, backup battery, and sensor batteries) are tested every 4 minutes. The communication system tests itself every month. The security system sends a test signal to the central station to test communication, security system features, and phone line integrity.
What if someone tears a sensor off the door/window?
One of the benefits of central monitoring is all the sensors are "supervised". This means that in the event someone or something tears off a sensor, the Central station will be made aware of the sensors absence in the security system. This signal results in a call for response from the central station. The system can not be defeated by simply tearing off a sensor.
What happens if the power goes out?
The system has an emergency power supply that will operate the security system for 24 hours and engages automatically. All critical memory such as codes and programming of the system are retained even if the power fails completely.
Will my pet set off the motion sensor?
The standard motion sensor is "pet friendly" for pets up to 30 lbs. Premier Alarm Service can install alternate equipment that can accommodate pets up to 100 lbs.
How long will the batteries last in the wireless system?
The batteries in the system are lithium batteries, designed to last approximately 5 years. The batteries are monitored through the central station. When the battery is no longer strong enough to operate the security system, the central station is notified and Premier Alarm Service will schedule a time to change it.
Does the wireless equipment interfere with other electronic equipment (garage door opener, phones etc)?
The wireless security system operates on a specific frequency of 359 MHz. The average household equipment utilizes a bandwidth between 900 MHz and 2.5 GHz. Premier Alarm Service's systems are completely compatible with you average household equipment.
Do I have to close all the windows to turn on the system?
The security system that Premier Alarm Service will install allows you to BI-pass any system components that you choose. There are additional customization options available to you with every system installation.
When is it time to Prewire my home?
Just before home is ready for insulation and sheetrock
What do I need for an alarm system?
You must have an active phone line, call list with phone numbers, and 4 hours of time for a basic wireless installation.
Does my house have to be prewired?
It is easier and better to have a new construction prewired but isn’t reqired. There are many panel options and wiring options that make for a clean looking full security system installed in any house.
